Jes Foord Foundation
Gender-based violence is still largely considered a women’s issue, but we all must be part of the conversation if we are to bring an end to gender-based crimes.
Providing a safe space for their voices to be heard is among the first steps towards letting these brave women know that they have our full support.
Fourways Group is humbled to have been given the chance to work alongside The Jes Foord foundation for their Handbag Project this Mandela Day. Fourways donated towards 210 handbags, which were distributed in various centres in Durban, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth, and Cape Town.
These rape comfort handbags contain personal care items such as toiletries, cosmetics, and reading books to help survivours in the initial healing stage. The Jes Foord Foundation also offers free counselling to those affected, and to their family members in both English and Zulu. In addition, they educate young men about their role in activism.
We are pleased to have partnered up with Jes Foord, to help revolutionise the way rape victims are treated in society, by helping them regain something priceless, their dignity and self-esteem.
